the PMI Diversity Specific Interest Group

Background
The PMI Diversity SIG component of the Project Management Institute (PMI) was chartered in June 1998. Since the original charter date, the component has rapidly grown through the efforts of an assortment of volunteers from varied and diverse backgrounds.

DSIG Mission

Promoting a holistic, applied oriented understanding of Diversity and its relevance within the project management profession by becoming a dynamic organization dedicated to serving the business, government, and educational communities through the advancement of Project Management Professionals
Promote the goals and principles of the Project Management Institute
Providing networking opportunities for global project managers facing similar diversity related project management challenges and concerns
Providing education and training in specific PM skills and knowledge areas

Service
As a PMI Registered Education Provider, PMI Diversity SIG is authorized to award Professional Development Units (PDUs) for attendance at qualified Diversity SIG meetings.

The PMI Diversity SIG component conducts monthly meetings and publishes and distributes a newsletter.

Looking Ahead
The PMI Diversity SIG Board of Directors have identified several opportunities for continued growth and increased service to the Diversity SIG membership, including creating and delivering educational programs that strengthen PMI and DSIG members Project Management professional skills, hosting diverse topical webinar forum meetings, and hosting Professional Development Day events.
