Mark Lurch, PMP
VP Finance



Mr. Mark Lurch was born and bred in New York City. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School where he first became interested in engineering, Columbia University where he received his BS in Electrical Engineering, and Polytechnic University where he received his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering. After graduation from Columbia engineering school where he majored in optical communication, AT&T Bell Laboratories in NJ employed him. For 15 years he worked in applied research and development, developing a variety of communications systems for underwater acoustic surveillance systems for submarines. He applied that knowledge in the development of fiber optically guided missiles, optical neuro-networks for artificial intelligence applications, optical sensors development, tethered unmanned underwater vehicles control, and a host of other technology driven applications.

After leaving AT&T Bell Laboratories Mr. Lurch joined AT&T/Lucent Technologies as Director of Program Management Operations. In this capacity he was assigned large international telecom project deployments where he applied his management skills to the telecom industry for AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Due to his expertise, he was assigned large projects of both development and deployment. As a result of the skills he gained he was sent overseas and spent three years living in Asia, Africa, and Russia consulting with business leaders on operational methods and project management discipline. His operational skills were used to improve Lucent business performance in 21 countries on three continents. Upon returning to the United States he was contracted by AT&T to spearhead their $100M foray into the local access business in Oregon. He managed the installation of a network and created a local phone company in direct competition to Qwest in that market. His first customer was the state government of Oregon which enabled a foothold for AT&T in that market.

Mr. Lurch currently serves as Sr. Program Manager of the Advanced Mission Computer line of business for General Dynamics. In this capacity he manages a $183M business developing and producing advanced computing products used to drive the displays on various military airborne platforms, primarily the F-18 Super Hornet and AV-8B Harrier jets. His development, production, subcontractor, and financial teams all utilize project management discipline, process, and tools to maintain a high level of performance reporting to the Navy. Earned value is the cornerstone of his business performance metric methodology.

Mr. Lurch currently serves as the VP Finance on the boards of the Information Technology and Telecommunications SIG and the Diversity SIG of PMI. He is a PMI member in good standing and a Project Management Professional. He enjoys travel, scuba diving, skiing, and photography. He resides in Castle Rock Colorado and Eden Prairie Minnesota.
